Happy Tails continues to evolve and touch more animals lives. The shelter has sponsored a group in Polo, IL “Project Humane Polo” to be a voice for animals in their community. The group was formed after the Polo City Council passed animal ordinances that need work to be better for animals and those who care for them. The group has access to high quality Veterinarian care at affordable fees through Happy Tails Wellness Clinic.

Advocacy

Education

Our humane education programs teach children, adults, and school groups about compassionate and responsible pet ownership. We visit schools and host field trips to our shelter.

Become a Happy Tails volunteer

Our cats and dogs depend on their volunteers to feed them, clean their kennels and cages, brush them, and enrich their lives through walks, play time, and lots of love.  Volunteers also help keep the shelter building clean and well maintained, transport pets to the veterinary clinic, work at fundraisers and much more.  The shelter needs scheduled volunteers who can be at the shelter on a regular basis.  The frequency and amount of time a volunteer can give is less important than regularity of service. We also need volunteers for our adoption events and especially for our Adoption Center at Northland Mall, which opens Thanksgiving Day and is open throughout December.
